Baseball/Softball Round-up: Monday, March 27th

BASEBALL

Soddy Daisy 13, Red Bank 0

It took the Trojans until the third inning to get their bats going, but then they came on strong the last four innings to get the shutout over Red Bank. Carson Flint went the distance on the mound for Soddy Daisy (7-4). He struck out 16 and walked four, allowing only one hit.

Offensively, Kale Johnson, AJ Florio and Troy James led the Soddy Daisy hit parade with two hits each. The Trojans racked up 13 hits against the Lions.

Baylor 11, Knox Webb 1

The Red Raiders grabbed the lead in the fourth inning  with an eight run outburst to pick up the win over the Spartans an handily put them in the Red Raiders’ rear view mirror.

Henry Ford went the distance for Baylor allowing just four hit, three walks, while striking out seven in the run-ruled contest/

John Emmendorfer, Ford, Champ Hampton and Mack Whitcomb each stroked two hits, with Ford banging out two homeruns. Tomas Valincius and Emmendorfer collected a four bagger, as well.

McCallie 13, Knox Catholic 3

The Blue Tornado rang up a big win over Knox Catholic, collecting 13 runs on 13 hits. McCallie’s offense was led by Sebastien Leinberger with three hits and a base on balls in four trips to the plate. Zach Porter and Wallace Gibson each had a pair of hits for the Blues.

Olin Johnson got the start for McCallie and went five and two-thirds innings for the win. He struck out 11, gave up three runs (one earned run) on seven hits, while walking one.

Silverdale 12, Notre Dame 1

The Seahawks went big in the third inning, scoring 11 runs to bury Notre Dame. Brett Rogers had two hits for Silverdale with a pair of RBIs and a run scored.

Maddox Jones retired five Irish batters on strikes, while Alex Secord got four strikeouts in two innings pitched in relief.

Alec Bouchard picked up two hits to lead Notre Dame,

Hixson 14, East Ridge 0

The Wildcats scored 13 runs in the first to set down East Ridge in three innings.

Cleveland 7, Bradley Central 4

The Blue raiders picked up a run in the sixth to break a 4-4 tie with Bradley and then sealed the win with two in the top of the seventh.

X Oliver led Cleveland at the plate with three hits. X Eidson, X Womack and X Winger each had two hits for the Raiders. Alex Brew led the Bears with two hits and two RBIs.

X Burns pitched seven innings for the Cleveland win. He struck out 0.

Boyd Buchanan 22, 21, Grace 2,0

The Bucs scored a total of 43 runs in bouncing Grace twice in a doubleheader Monday

 

Boyd Buchanan banged out 13 hits with Haden Griffith, Brodie Johnston, Xavier Embry and Brodie Lowe all having two hits. Griffith had a pair of doubles.

In the second game Johnston and Cooper Jones each collected three hits, while Brayden Standefer and Lowe had two apiece. Johnston’s three hits were all home runs, as Jones had a homerun and a pair of doubles. Eli Gardenhire had a homer, as well.

Standefer struck out six in four innings, giving up one hit.

McMinn Co. 5, Walker Valley 3

.The Cherokees’ Reese Frazier had a pair of hits to lead the win over Walker Valley. Ty Barnett took the mound first for McMinn and went six and two-thirds innings, giving up six hits and three runs, while striking out eight. Mason Roderick sealed then in relief.

Rhea Co. 4, Ooltewah 1 (10 innings)

Rhea Co.’s Corydon Butler homered on an 0-1 count in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Golden Eagles the walk-off win.

Butler had two hits in the game to lead Rhea. John Brannen pitched all 10 innings to get the win for the Golden Eagles. He allowed only one run on two hits and struck out 14, while walking three.

SOFTBALL 

CCS 5, Walker Valley 0

The Lady Chargers’ Autumn Hughes and Hannah Smith

teamed up to pitch a five hit shutout against Walker Valley, allowing zero hits.

Lauren McGill and Addi Lewis each had a pair of hits for CCS.

Silverdale 7, Bradley Central 5

The Bearettes fell behind early and fought to come back against Silverdale, falling just short.

Bitta Cox threw six innings for the Lady Seahawks, striking out nine and allowing one run on three hits. Macy Chastain led the Bradley offense with two hits. Bailey Lockhart homered for the Bearettes.

Soddy Daisy 5, Boyd Buchanan 2

The Lady Trojans fought back from being down two runs after two innings to grab the win.

Soddy Daisy’s Adasyn Wilkey paced her team’s offense with two hits. Regan Rowan went the distance in the circle for the Lady Trojans. She struck out 12 for the win.

Kiley Elliott had two hits for the Lady Bucs and pitched four and two-thirds innings, striking out six.
