Mary Lou Brooks, 89, of New Hope, Tennessee, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.

Mary Lou was born on April 11, 1934, to George Eurman and Ida Blevins Reeves. In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Brooks Sr., her son, William Earl Brooks Jr., sisters Imogene Raley, Wilma Griffith, Odell Brown, Margie Lee Rogers, Vera Ann Case, Nellie Don Griffin, Pauline Anderson and one brother, Vernon Reeves.

She is survived by her daughter, Robina Hibbs; son, Arnold Brooks , both of South Pittsburg, Tn.; grandchildren, Jason Brooks (Stephanie), Brandy Creekmore (Jamey), Charee Raman (Mintra), Fallon Hibbs Peacock (Brian), Lonnie Brooks (Amanda), Crystal Brooks, 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Naomi Hibbs (Raymond) and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou retired from South Pittsburg Knitting Mill after 36 years. She then worked as a cashier at Western Sizzlin, where she enjoyed interacting with many customers on a regular basis. She was a devout Christian and a lifelong member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Mary Lou loved her church family and a kind and loving soul who never met a stranger. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and had many memories of fun trips with her sisters. Mary Lou was a talented crocheter, seamstress and cook. She loved making baby blankets, scarves, and hats. Mary Lou Brooks was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 22, at 11:30 a.m. (CDT) at Pine Grove Baptist Church, 215 Pine Grove Road, New Hope, Tn. with Rev. Mickey Skates and Rev. Jacob Frady officiating.

Ms. Brooks will be laid to rest at New Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 21, from 4-7 p.m. (CDT) at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg and on Saturday, April 22, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Brent Brown, Mark Myers, Lance Brown, Corey Hughes, Brian Peacock and Reid Peacock.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wade Brown, Earl Howard, John Olinger, Doug Powers, Glenn Matthews, and Ronnie Gamble.
