Cleveland State sophomore Hope Ingle and Freshman Kristen Fowler earned recognition as second team All-TCCAA recipients for their performance during the 2023 softball season. For Ingle it was her second year in a row earning All-TCCAA honors.
Set to attend school and play softball at Wofford University, Hope Ingle finished her second year as the lead-off hitter for Cleveland State batting .415 with a team leading 16 Homeruns. She also led the team with 44 RBI’s and had an On Base Percentage of .492. Ingle walked 26 times and defensively played every inning of every game at Shortstop.
Second Base player, Kristen Fowler finished her first year at Cleveland State leading the team in hits with 72, Batting Average at .493 and an On Base Percentage of .546. She drove in 41 runs, banged out eight homeruns, 14 doubles and four triples. Fowler’s batting average was good for second in the TCCAA.
Also, Freshman Cooper Casteel was named to the 2023 All-TCCAA first team as a starting pitcher and Sophomore Rhett Hammontree earned Shortstop honors on the 2023 All-TCCAA second team.
Casteel a 6’0 left-handed pitcher from Bradley High School started 13 games for the Cougars winning six with a strikeout statistic of 11.03 per nine innings. He pitched a total of 63.2 innings in being one of only two starting pitchers earning first team conference honors.
With a .346 batting average, an On Base Percentage of .406, four homeruns and 22 RBI’s the 6’1 Rhett Hammontree from Dalton High School was one of two shortstops earning conference honors.
He led the Cougars in hits with 53 and tied for the lead in doubles with nine. Defensively
Hammontree had a .953 fielding percentage on the season in 47 games on 170 total chances. Easily placing him as the elite fielder of the conference.
