Boating License Class And Test Offered Saturday And Sunday

Boating season is coming up and TWRA has a class and test site scheduled for those who needs a boating license.

Anyone born after Jan. 1, 1989 must pass a Boater Education Class in order to operate a boat with more than 8.5 horsepower.

The class and test will be Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Council Baptist Church, 1415 Upper River Rd NE, in Charleston.

Testing only will be offered Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hidden Harbor Restaurant at 58 Boat Dock, 4934 State Hwy 58 South in Decatur.

Once the class is taken, a certificate will be issued which must be kept by the boater whenever on the water.

Details about boating requirements and regulations are available on the TWRA website, www.tnwildlife.org.

It is required to purchase and bring the Type 600 Boating Safety Exam Permit to testing locations and to classes. The class is free and open to everyone.
