Mary Ellen Young
Mary Ellen Young, age 91, of Chattanooga passed away Monday, May 22, 2023.
She was born July 10, 1931 in Chattanooga to the late Loma Mae and Hoyle Jackson, Sr.
Mrs. Young was a member of New Haven Baptist Church.
Her husband, Joseph Wheeler Young, Sr., sisters, Gladys Samuelson, Virginia Stephens, and brothers, William Jackson and Hoyle Jackson, Jr. preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sons, Michael (Rebecca) Hicks, Ronnie (Karen) Hicks, and Maynard (Karen) Hicks; step-son, Joseph (Karen) Young, Jr.; sister, Joyce (Joe) Morton; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 26, from 10 a.m.–12 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will begin at 12 p.m. in the East Brainerd Chapel. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
