McCallie School has had a track team for over 100 years with some amazing athletes, but this season was “literally” a record-breaking season. McCallie completed the season with a runner up finish at the TSSAA DII AA State Meet. The Blue Tornado was undefeated in dual meets and won the Ft. Payne Inv., The McCallie Mid-South Classic, The Fast Break Inv., The Front Runner Chattanooga Championship and the East Region Championship. McCallie athletes set 9 new school records this spring.
4 x 200:
Dorian Furr, Caughran Fowler, Andrew Smith and Kavan Reynolds won the State Championship in the 4 x 200 relay and set a new school record of 1:27.28.
4 x 100:
Amaru Mazibuko, Enrique Jaimes-LeClair, Dorian Furr and Caughran Fowler ran 42.17. They broke the previous school record held by 2013 state 4 x 100 champions, Alex Trotter, Myles Patton, J.J. Lewis and C.J. Fritz.
4 x 400:
Caughran Fowler, Sam Baker, Guillaume Bogaert and Kavan Reynolds ran 3:21.02 to win the region meet and set a new school record in the 4 x 400 Relay.
800 Meter Sprint Medley: [100-100-200-400]
Amaru Mazibuko, Marcellus Barnes, Enrique Jaimes-LeClair and Guillaume Bogaert ran 1:34.68 to earn 2nd at the Vol Classic and set a new standard for McCallie.
1600, 3200, 4 x 800, 4 x 1 Mile, Distance Medley Relay [1200-400-800-1600]:
The McCallie Distance Crew was on a tear this season setting 5 new school records led by Jack Bowen.
Jack was impressive as he set two new individual event school records. 1600 meter run of 4:12.30 and a quick 9:10.19 for 3200 meters. Jack was also part of new school records in the 4 x 800 Relay and 4 x 1 Mile Relay.
McCallie athletes Nate Armstrong, Jack Bowen, Henry Edwards and Hugh Carlson won the 4 x 800 at the Front Runner Championship with a record time of 7:51.96.
Jack Bowen, Garrison Corley, Hugh Carlson and Evan Simpson smashed the McCallie record in the 4 x 1 mile with a time of 17:37.37 to finish 3rd at Nike Indoor Nationals.
Evan Simpson, Kavan Reynolds, Garrison Corley and Hugh Carlson ran 10:16.82 to take 6th at Nike Indoor Nationals.
