Julia Hallene Caruthers passed away on June 17, 2023, in Spring City, Tennessee, at the age of 105.
She was born on Sept. 4, 1917, and was the daughter of the late Hal Saltmarsh and Julia Mann Harding. Hallene and her husband moved to Spring City after his return from the Second World War. He worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority and she began teaching in the Rhea County School System. Hallene was a devoted member of the Spring City First Baptist Church.
Hallene was preceded in death by her husband Clifford S. Caruthers, her two brothers Henry Gooding Harding and John Herbert Harding, and her three sisters Elizabeth Harding, Marry Jo Garrison and Nannell Sadler.
She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 26, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Price officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring City Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 26, from 1-2 p.m. at Vaughn Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank Mary Colter and Juanita Kilby for their care that enabled her to remain in her home for many years. We are also grateful for the many caretakers at Spring City Care and Rehabilitation Center and Hearth Hospice for loving and caring for her in her final days.
