The Jimmy Simpson Foundation Raises Over $70,000 During Annual Clay Shoot Fundraiser

  • Thursday, June 29, 2023
Following the Jimmy Simpson Foundation’s two-day annual Clay Shoot tournament at the beginning of June, the non-profit has announced that the event raised over $70,000, which will go directly toward its Foundations for the Future capital campaign.

The Foundations for the Future campaign is aimed at expanding the foundation’s Safehaven facility in Walker County from 12 to 24 beds to accommodate the rising need for resources for traumatic brain injured and ventilator-dependent individuals in the Greater Chattanooga region.
Once completed, the expanded facility will grow to approximately 31,000 square feet, with 28,000 of that space dedicated to direct services.

For the 2023 event, 100 shooters participated and 20 volunteers assisted to ensure the event was a success. In addition to the tournament itself, the event featured a shooting clinic with NCSA Level 3 Instructor Dale Bouchillon.

“We are blown away by the support we received during our second annual Clay Shoot. It is because of the contributions of our sponsors, participants, committee members and volunteers that we are now closer than ever to reaching our campaign goal. Every day we are blessed to serve such wonderful people, and knowing that others also care about our residents and want to help us provide them with the best care possible leaves us speechless. Thank you to every individual who helped us make this year’s event a huge success,” Vickie Hodge, CEO of Safehaven and the Jimmy Simpson Foundation, said.

Chattanooga Auto Square served as the Presenting Sponsor for the 2023 annual Clay Shoot. Other sponsors from across the Greater Chattanooga area included Lee-Smith, Inc.; Lift Media Group; Miles & Kirk Design, Erlanger Health System and Flegal Insurance.

“Our team was honored to support this wonderful organization by sponsoring this year’s Clay Shoot. The work Vickie and her team at the Jimmy Simpson Foundation do on a daily basis is remarkable, and we can’t wait to see them continue to grow,” Kim Shumpert, chief operating officer at Lift Media Group, said.

With the Clay Shoot behind them, the Jimmy Simpson Foundation is now turning its attention to its 2023 Safehaven Annual Golf Tournament, which is scheduled to take place on Sept. 21 at LaFayette Golf Course in LaFayette. Sponsorship opportunities will be announced in the near future.
