  • Saturday, June 3, 2023

Hunter Ensley doubled in a run in the 14th inning to lead Tennessee to a comeback victory over Clemson on Saturday night at the Tigers' home field.

The 6-5 win snapped the Tigers' 17-game winning streak.

It sent Clemson to a Sunday morning contest with Charlotte. The winner faces the Vols on Sunday night.

It was a Zane Denton home run in the ninth with two runners on that saved the Vols from the losers' bracket. He had homered in the seventh as well, pulled Tennessee to within two runs.

Cam Cannarella doubled in a run in the Clemson half of the ninth to keep the game going.

Cannarella was ejected in the bottom of the 13th inning after a run in with Denton following an inning-ending double play.

Tennessee got on the board first on a home run by Christian Moore down the left field line.

A Cannarella homer put Clemson up 3-1.

Clemson's highly regarded left-handed pitcher Caden Grice doubled in a run to make it 4-1.

Chase Dollander started for Tennessee and Chase Burns had a long relief stint. Seth Halvorsen got the final outs.
