Thomas “Tommy” Edward Thompson, Jr., 85, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023.

A native of Chattanooga, he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a retired employee of First Tennessee Bank where he was a branch manager and was of the Christian faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edward Thompson Sr. and Frances Cordelia Gilstrap Thompson and nephew, Scott Camp. He is survived by two children, Cindy Johnson of Murfreesboro, TN., and Thomas ”Tommy” (Lana) Thompson III of Bartlett, TN.; sister, Jeanie Camp of Chattanooga, TN.; six grandchildren, Lane Johnson, Lee Johnson, Ryan (Jessica) Thompson, Matt (Morgan) Thompson, Savannah Thompson and Marc Thompson; three great grandchildren, Carrie, Anna and Carsen “Chipper” Thompson; dear friend, Gail Thompson; niece, Susan Camp and nephew, Jeff Camp.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 28, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
