Canes Win Both Boys And Girls Races

The East Hamilton Hurricane boys and girls cross country teams won the 7th Annual Rabbit Valley Run at East Hamilton on Tuesday night. The meet expanded this year to include 9 complete and partial teams.

The East Hamilton boys beat six other complete teams, scoring 23 points. , The Hurricane boys took the top three individual spots, and all seven varsity boys placed in the top 15. Tayven Guthrie won the race, with William Hazell and Ryan de Castro taking second and third. CSAS (72 points) and Rhea County (92 points) were the 2nd and 3rd teams.

The East Hamilton girls beat four other complete teams, scoring 22 points.
CSAS won 2nd with 61 points, while Rhea County took 3rd with 67 points. For the first mile, Rhea County's top girls stayed within sight of the Hurricanes' top four, but CSAS made Rhea pay for it on the two long challenging ascents of Hurricane Hill. The Hurricanes' took the top four individual spots, and all seven varsity girls placed in the top 15. Ashlyn Shell won the race, followed one second later by Willa Barnes. Third place finisher Adrianna Huffstuttler edged teammate Madison Wright in a finish that had to be decided by going to the timing camera.
