A Chattanooga resident and Tennessee Realtors member is being recognized nationally for his community service, giving back to the Chattanooga area. Steven Sharpe, 2023 president of Greater Chattanooga Realtors, is the recipient of the 2023 Tennessee Realtors Good Neighbor Award for his work with Camp Horizon, receiving a $5,000 donation to Camp Horizon.
After winning the state Good Neighbor Award, Mr. Sharpe was selected as a Top 10 Finalist in the National Association of Realtors Good Neighbor Award.
As a Top 10 Finalist, Mr. Sharpe and Camp Horizon now compete for the "Web Choice Favorite," where the public may vote. The three candidates with the most votes will receive an additional $2,500 towards their nonprofit.
You do not have to be a realtor to vote, and you may vote as often as you'd like through Oct. 1.
On Sept. 22, Mr. Sharpe will be honored in an ad in the Wall Street Journal, which promotes the Good Neighbor Award and the Web Choice Favorite Voting. He will also receive recognition for his work with his Chattanooga-based nonprofit.
"We would like to recognize Steven Sharpe in his hometown community of the Chattanooga area to promote his success in the NAR Good Neighbor Award Process, encourage community members to vote for him in the Web Choice Favorite portion and showcase his work with the Chattanooga-based nonprofit, Camp Horizon," officials said. "Mr. Sharpe co-founded Camp Horizon with his wife, Lindsey, to offer a summer camp experience to kids with physical disabilities like paralysis, spina bifida and cerebral palsy. Since 2005, the camp has engaged more than 500 kids in accessible activities such as canoeing, horseback riding and fishing. To ensure the children’s happiness and safety, the camp has more than 50 volunteer counselors, many with medical training."
