Marion Moon
Marion Louise Moon, 95, of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, in a local hospital.
She was born on February 6, 1928, in Newnan, Georgia. Marion was a faithful member of Greater Tucker Missionary Baptist Church, where she was active in Sunday School, Vacation Bible Study, and always found beautiful readings to share with the congregation until her health started to decline. She was formerly employed by Red Food Store, Hope of Chattanooga, and private homes for many years. Marion loved feeding birds and watching her favorite television show COPS. She also loved her son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Marion never met a stranger that she did not share something with them, like a piece of gum or mints, but most of all her wisdom which she had lots of it. Her famous quote was, “Mind your own business.”
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Charlotte Fleming; son, Jerry Moon; mother, Johnnie Mae Clark Starr; father, James Thomas; sisters, Norman Jean Fields, Margaret Parker, Pauline Parks, and Almeta Jones; brothers, Robert Williams and Charles DeVaughn.
Survivors include her son, Charles Terry Moon, Sr.; grandchildren, Reginald (Zulakia) Fleming, Tabatha Brown, Terry DeVaughn, Charles Trammell, Charles Terry Moon III, Darnella Holloway, Andreous Moon, Sr., Andrina Bennett, Astraea Moon, and Renee Moon; great-grandchildren, Grant Hamilton Fleming, Ryleigh Fleming, McKayla Walker, Joshua Moon, Justin Trammell, Tycia Fernendez, LeKeicia Fernadez, Andrienne Walker, Anthony Hamilton, Jr., Darius Davis, Dwight Davis, Andreous Moon, Jr., Kortni Moon, and Jayceon Moon; great-great-grandchildren, Annistin Wallace, Harmoni Hamilton, and Honest Hamilton; a host of other relatives and friends.
Marion will lie in state on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor William Daniels as the eulogist.
Burial will be on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
