Second ranked Dalton State played two great rounds on Monday to put themselves in contention for a win, but faltered in the 3rd round to post a tournament total of 907 (+55) and a 5th place finish at the Invite at Innisbrook in Palm Harbor, Fla. on Monday and Tuesday.
NCAA Division II Eckerd (Fla.) (887, +35) came from behind to win by 6 strokes over #3 Keiser (Fla.) (893, +41). #5 SCAD-Savannah (Ga.) at 896 (+44) was 3rd followed by #7 (Southeastern (Fla.) at 904 (+52) in 4th.
#2 Dalton State (Ga.) (907, +55) rounded out the top 5.
Sydney Hermann led the Lady Roadrunners in the 1st Round with a 72 (+1). Mailey Buzzell and Sara Burger both carded 75 (+4) rounds, with Dalton State at 298 (+16) as a squad.
Hanna Bullard posted 78 (+7), with Jia Kataria carrying the 5th score with an 85 (+14). Ella Cress, playing as an individual, shot an impressive 1-over 72.
Buzzell fired an even-par 71 as the Lady Birds shot 299 (+17) as a team. Hermann wasn't far behind with a 2-over 73.
Burger shot a second-straight 75 (+4) as Kataria snagged the last counter with an 80 (+9). Bullard recorded 81 (+10) with the 5th score, with Cress shooting 78 (+7).
Hermann remained consistent with a 76 (+5) as Burger claimed the 2nd best team score with a 77 (+6). In total, DS shot 310 (+26) as a team for the round.
It was a 78 (+7) for Bullard with Buzzell posting 79 (+8). Kataria had another 85 (+14) as Cress carded another impressive round with a 72 (+1).
#2-ranked Dalton State will be back in action September 25 and 26 when they host the Invite at Innisbrook in Palm Harbor, Fla.
