The Chattanooga soccer team returns home for a two-game stretch beginning with ETSU Sunday evening. Fans are encouraged to wear PINK to support the fight against breast cancer. The game is slated to kick off at 5:00 p.m. following the Chattanooga Football Club (CFC) home game against NY Red Bulls II at 1:00 p.m.
Free pink hats will be given out to the first 100 fans through the gate. Entrance is South Gate and admission is free.
The Mocs lead the series 9-6-4 against the Bucs.
At home UTC is 5-1-3 and 8-6-4 in Southern Conference play. ETSU snapped the Mocs five-game unbeaten streak in the series with a 1-0 win in Johnson City. Over the last six meetings, UTC is 3-1-2 against ETSU.
ETSU held the Mocs to a season-low six shots while the Bucs had eight shots in the match. Zoey Mize had two shots and Caroline Richvalsky’s lone shot was saved. ETSU’s game winner came in the 78th minute from Sinoxolo Cesane to the upper right corner.
Despite outshooting Mercer, the Mocs fell 2-0 to the Bears in Macon, Ga., Thursday night. Chattanooga had at least 21 shots in the match, a season-high, led by Caroline Richvalsky who fired off a career-high nine with five on goal, also a career-best. She was surrounded most of the night by a platoon of defenders. Zoey Mize had four shots with two on goal and Clarissa Salinas added three. The Mocs came out aggressive and kept the ball in their half of the field and the attacking third most of the match and allowed just 10 shots, four on goal. Mercer’s first goal was a high shot just under the crossbar in the 63rd minute and the second was a penalty kick with less than five minutes to play.
