Mocs Men's Tennis Competes At Gridiron Classic

The Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team continued fall play at this weekend's Gridiron Classic at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center in Macon, Ga., hosted by Southern Conference member Mercer.
 
Chattanooga was joined in coemption by a plethora of teams including Clemson, Georgia State, North Florida, Jacksonville State, Georgia Southern, Troy, Furman, Alabama State and host Mercer. The event was flighted across singles and doubles action with UTC representing well in each category.
 
Ryan Mudre (Flight A2), Kristof Kinces (Flight B1), Ethan Carr (Flight B2) and Matej Laibl (Flight B2) all recorded winner bracket victories in their respective flights.
Laibl advanced his way to the Flight B2 final stages before dropping a tight decision to Troy's Luciano Alcocer.
 
In doubles, Ryan Mudre/Gabriel Castillo (Flight A) earned a first-round winners bracket victory after claiming a 6-2 win over Jacksonville State's Logan Haga/Timo De Visser. The duo of Cortland Grove and Matej Laibl finished with a winning 2-1 record in Flight C doubles to finish second overall in the table.
 
Full results of the event can be found through the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) platform HERE. Chattanooga will return to fall action with the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals, which is set for October 10-14 in West Lafeyette, Ind., hosted by Purdue.
