Mize, Richvalsky Lead UTC Soccer Past ETSU

  • Sunday, October 6, 2024
Chattanooga’s Zoey Mize and Caroline Richvalsky combined for two goals Sunday afternoon in a 2-0 win over ETSU in Southern Conference women’s soccer action at Finley Stadium.

Chattanooga improves to 3-7-3 overall and 2-3 in conference play while the Bucs move to 2-6-2 on the year and 1-2-1 against the SoCon.

Prior to Sunday’s match, Mize had assisted Richvalsky on all four of her goals. In the 64th minute, Richvalsky returned the favor. She fought off her defenders and turned toward the goal, sending a pass to the front of the six-yard box.
Mize headed the shot into the upper right corner for what would prove to be the game winner.

Less than three minutes later, Mize picked up the ball at midfield and fed a arcing pass to Richvalsky in stride. She entered the penalty area and from eight yards out, she booted the ball over the keeper for her fifth goal of the season.

Caroline Ekern picked up her 19th career win and took sole possession of fourth on the Mocs all-time list with her 12th shutout. She had four saves in the match.

Each team fired off 11 shots. Mize had a game-high four shots with two on goal and Richvalsky added three. The Mocs had six corner kicks to the Bucs three.

Chattanooga sported its pink uniforms for the annual Breast Cancer Awareness game. Thursday is Senior Night. The Mocs will honor its six seniors prior to the game against The Citadel. Kick off is slated for 5:05 p.m. Admission is free.
