Linda Lee Elmore
Linda Lee Elmore, 84, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, October 4, 2024.
Linda was born in Winona, W.V., on July 19, 1940, the daughter of the late Grover D. Plumley and Ora Richmond Plumley. Linda accepted Jesus as her Savior and was born again as a young girl and faithfully loved and served her Savior until he called her home to heaven. She was always ready to share the gospel with her patients, family, friends, and anyone else who crossed her path. Her desire was to see everyone come to faith in Christ and be saved.
Linda graduated from Laird Memorial Hospital Nursing School, Montgomery WV, in 1961, and subsequently married her sweetheart of 63 years, Harley. The same year, they moved from West Virginia to Washington D.C. metropolitan area, where Harley was serving in the U.S. Air Force. Linda started her career there at Washington Hospital Center. Once moving to Chattanooga in 1974, she turned her focus to being a wife and mother. Then in 1981, she went back to work at Diagnostic Hospital on McCallie Avenue which later became Renaissance Rehabilitation Hospital, then Healthsouth, and is currently Encompass Health. She faithfully served there for 26 years and retired in 2007.
In 2014, Linda moved with her husband, Harley, to Parkwood Retirement Apartments next to NHC Chattanooga, where she was dearly loved by so many with whom she shared life for 10 years. When Harley was transferred next door to NHC long-term care in 2016, Linda spent the next eight years visiting him daily and overseeing his care. She was truly faithful in her commitment to him “till death do us part”.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Franklin Elmore, Jr. and a brother and two sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Cathy Elmore Gist and husband, Greg, and her son, Marc Franklin Elmore, all living in Chattanooga.
