Chattanooga Roads Progress Update On Paving Projects

  • Monday, December 2, 2024

Thanks to unused bond funds, the Department of Public Works paving team has been at work improving city streets.

Hickory Valley/Claude Ramsey Completed
On Nov. 25, the paving on Hickory Valley and Claude Ramsey roads was completed. Over 3,750 tons of asphalt were installed, creating a smoother and more durable roadway. In a sustainable twist, millings from this project were repurposed to address potholes and shoulder repairs along Airport Road.

Ongoing and Upcoming Projects
Oak Street: Repaving from Glenwood Drive to Shallowford Road (In Progress)

Shallowford Road: Repaving from McCallie Avenue to North Crest Road (Upcoming)

Wilcox Boulevard: Repaving from Greenwood Avenue to Shallowford Road (Upcoming)

N Concord Road/Hamilton Place Boulevard: Repaving from Igou Gap Road to the current TDOT project (Completed)

Hickory Valley Road: Repaving from Discovery Drive to Highway 58 (Completed)

Frazier Avenue: Repaving, lane painting, and pedestrian improvements (Ongoing)

“We’re thrilled with the progress so far and are especially proud of our team’s ability to repurpose materials to benefit additional areas,” said Jerremy Wood, Public Works administrator. “Our focus now is to ensure the remaining projects are completed on schedule to benefit the community.”
