Chattanooga Mocs softball head coach Frank Reed claimed his 1,200th career win with a 4-2 victory over Texas A&M Corpus Christi Friday in UTC’s first game in the annual Frost Classic at Frost Stadium.
The win was number 724 for Reed at Chattanooga in his 23rd year. That ranks 38th in the NCAA for active coaches by victory. He spent 11 seasons at the helm of Chattanooga State, compiling a record of 476-87.
Reed, a six-time Southern Conference Coach of the Year, led the Mocs to eight SoCon regular season titles and 10 league tournament crowns.
During his tenure, Chattanooga has advanced to the NCAA Tournament 10 times.
He has coached 16 NFCA All-Region selections, two NCAA Region All-Tournament team members, three SoCon Players of the Year, six SoCon Pitchers of the Year, four league Freshmen of the Year, multiple all-conference selections and Michelle Fuzzard, SoCon Female Athlete of the Year.
Reed and Fuzzard (LaCourse) were inducted into the UTC Athletics Hall of Fame together this past fall.
