Barbara Siler Phillips, 81, of Jasper, Tn. passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at her home after a long illness.

Barbara was born July 6, 1942 in Pleasant Plains Ar. to the late Harvie G. and Otha Ransom Siler.

Although petite in stature she was an outstanding athlete and Valedictorian of her class at Pleasant Plains High School. She received her BEd from Harding University and her MEd from Arkansas State University, she was a caring and compassionate educator, girls basketball coach, and cheerleader sponsor for many years at Gosnell High School AR and taught briefly in St Augustine Fl. After the births of her sons and multiple reassignments of her military spouse, she took a break from teaching. A devoted mother, supportive wife and lifetime lover of all sports, she enjoyed nothing more than coaching or watching her son’s various sports teams in Nd., La., Ne., Tx. and Tn. Barbara then taught troubled youths in Papillition, Nn. As a Certified Activity Director, she retired from The Bridge in South Pittsburg Tn.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 51 years Dennis Phillips, Lt Col, USAF (RET); sons Derek (Shelley) Phillips of South Pittsburg, Tn. and Col Landon (Megan) Phillips currently stationed in England; grandsons Brady, Grayson, Silas, and Everett Phillips; brothers Glen (Mary Rose) Siler of Wynne AR and Tom (Arlene) Siler of Hot Springs AR; sister in law Judy (Doug) Webb of Mobile Al.; niece Glenda (Larry) Devasier of Colt Ar. and nephews Stan (Debbie) Siler of Wynne, Ar. and Scott (Kristen) Siler of Jonesboro Ar; several great and great great nieces and nephews, many cousins and long-time friends.

No visitation is scheduled. A private interment will occur at a future date at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.
