Henry Eugene Foster
On January 30, 2024, God came and received Henry Eugene Foster unto himself.
Henry Eugene Foster was born on June 10, 1944, to Ernest and Georgia Bussey Foster-Manning, in Macon, Ga. Henry received his early education in the public schools of Macon. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church with his family in Macon. He relocated to Chattanooga, Tn. in 1959 with family following the death of his father in Macon. Henry joined Second Missionary Baptist Church. He attended and graduated from Howard High School in Chattanooga, in the class of 1963. Henry enlisted in the United States Army in June of 1963. His second enlistment was with the United States Navy in October of 1968.
He was united in marriage to Lou Edith Hereford of Chattanooga on June 19, 1969. They are the parents of a daughter, Alicesa Edith Foster-Graves. He later married Mozell Foster in Los Angeles, Ca. and later relocated to live in the Dallas, Tx. community. He worked and retired from the Parks and Playgrounds for the city of Dallas, Tx.
He became a member of Greater South Central Baptist Church and was a deacon for many years. He enjoyed watching football games, completing crossword puzzles, and chatting with friends and relatives across the country.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Georgia Bussey Foster-Manning; brother, Ernest Foster, Jr.; sisters, Mattie F. McKenzie, Annie Ruth Collins and Odessa Foster Hurt; wife, Mozell Foster; nieces, Carolyn Foster, Judie Foster and Dawn Mechele Hurt; and nephew, William D. Hurt III.
He is survived by his devoted caregiver, Vita Henderson and family of Garland, Tx.; neice; Carol A. McKenzie of Chattanooga; daughter, Alicesa Edith Foster-Graves of Norfolk, Va.; three granddaughters, Danesa Atoi Foster, Elena Jai Foster, Bailey McKai Foster of Norfolk, Va.; ex-wife, Lue Edith Foster of Norfolk, Va.; sister-in-law, Mary H. Taylor; brother-in-law, William D. (Rosalind) Hurt of Chattanooga; nephews, Alvis Eugene Collins and family, William Mark Collins, both of Pensacola, Fl., John Nolan, Terrell Borders, Jermaine Borders of Chattanooga; friends, Marilyn B. Brown, Vincenetta P. Brown of Chattanooga; cousins, Eddie Lee Foster of Tifton, Ga., Glynon Sykes of Covington, Ga.; a host of friends, classmates from the Howard High School Class of 1963, and extended family members who reside in Georgia, Florida, Michigan, and Virginia.
Arrangements will be made by Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home in Dallas, Tx.
