Chattanooga Republican Women's Caring For America Committee Announces Community Project

  • Monday, March 11, 2024
The Chattanooga Republican Women's Caring for America committee has selected Harvesting Inclusive Play as its local project for 2024. The committee, chaired by Erika Ballard, is dedicated to fundraising efforts aimed at establishing a playground for disabled children at Jack Benson Heritage Park in Chattanooga.

"This initiative reflects our commitment to community service and creating inclusive spaces for children with diverse needs," officials said.

In 2023, the Caring for America committee, chaired by Sabrena Smedley, dedicated their efforts to supporting the Isaiah 117 House at Chambliss Center for Children in Hamilton County.
"This crucial facility was established to provide immediate care for children entering foster care, offering a warm and welcoming alternative to conventional settings. Dedicated volunteers play a vital role in triaging the children's needs upon arrival, ensuring they receive essential care such as baths, hot meals, fresh clothes and a comfortable bed. The committee's commitment to the Isaiah 117 House reflects their compassion and dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of children in need," officials said.

The Chattanooga Republican Women's club has received recognition from the Tennessee Federation of Republican Women. The club was presented with an award in acknowledgment of their efforts, raising over $70,000 to support the establishment of the Isaiah 117 House. In addition to this accomplishment, the club was honored with the Muffett Brock Award for club growth and received further recognition for their notable increase in membership. "These accolades reflect the club's dedication to impactful community initiatives and their commitment to fostering growth within their organization," officials said.

The Chattanooga Republican Women convene on the second Thursday of each month at 11 a.m., hosting their meetings at Logan’s Roadhouse in Northgate Mall, Hixson. The next meeting is March 14, with lunch that can be purchased for $21. Andrew Guffee will be joining us as the guest speaker.

"Republican women are warmly invited to participate in these monthly gatherings, providing an opportunity to engage, connect and contribute to the vibrant community," organizers said. "Your presence is valued, and the club looks forward to welcoming new members at these informative and collaborative sessions."
