Matthew Aaron Thurmond, 42, of Chattanooga, entered eternal rest on May 15, 2024 at his home.

He was the much beloved husband of Mandi Thurmond. They were married 16 years and were high school sweethearts. Born in Chattanooga, he was the son of Rebecca Davis and Vernon Thurmond. He was the general manager at Printing Plus Signs. He had a very close relationship with his Savior Jesus and we find peace that he is resting in His arms. He was a lifelong fan of the Vols and enjoyed spending time outside, traveling with friends, and drinking craft beer. He will be remembered for his love of the Lord, loving his family and friends and being the best pug dad and husband ever.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bill L. Davis; grandparents, Berthel and Evelyn Thurmond; and his beloved pugs, Bella and Pugsley.

Survivors include his wife, Amanda Thurmond; mom, Rebecca Davis; dad, Vernon Thurmond; brother, Jason Thurmond; Jon (Erin) Thurmond; grandmother, Merriam “Nanny” Davis; Dawn Davis Buck and David Buck; cousins: Ben and Blake Buck and numerous other cousins; uncle, Lonnie Davis (Dee Dee); nephews: Noah, Owen and Leo; and lots of found family such as Kent and Julie Davis, the porch crew, and his bros, his pugs, Fulmer and Maggie and Frank, siblings, Jennifer (Mike) and Meg (Linzi).

Visitation will be from 5–8 p.m. on Friday, May 17, at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park. The family encourages visitors to wear TN orange.
