Devoted Friend, Good Listener, And Had A Mischievous Sense Of Humor

Kay Dodson Nottingham Lee, 82, of Signal Mountain, TN, formerly of Richmond, VA, was surrounded by her family as she entered into the arms of her Savior on May 22, 2024.

She was born in Norfolk, Va., on Jan. 9, 1942, to Eleanor Laird Dodson Notthingham and Seth Fentress Nottingham. She lit up the halls of Granby High School and graduated in the “lost class of 1959”. She was a cheerleader and sang with the Nonettes and the Powder Puffs. Afterwards she attended Longwood College in Farmville, Va. where she was an active member and Vice President of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. She received a B.S. in Secondary Education in 1963. Kay was an elementary school teacher before meeting and marrying the love of her life, Ed, in a whirlwind romance in 1965.

Kay was a devoted friend, a good listener, and had a mischievous sense of humor. She loved to laugh and spend time with her family and friends. She enjoyed birds, music, reading, flowers, and learning more about the Lord through Bible study. For many years Kay was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Richmond, Va., where she and her husband, Ed, spent many years visiting those homebound or in the hospital.

In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her precious brother, Col. Seth Fentress Nottingham Jr.

Kay is survived by her loving husband, Clyde Edward (Ed) Lee; her 3 daughters, Jennifer Thomas, Whitney Smith (Michael) and Carrie Mullins (Corey). She was known as “Ginny” to her 9 grandchildren and adored them all; Issac, Seth, Elijah and Micah Thomas, Michael Jr and Summer Smith, Grady, Tate and Levi Dodson Mullins. She is also survived by her sister, Sue (Richard) Schiller, her sister-in-law Valerie Nottingham ; nieces and nephew, Kathryn Wurster, Margaret Schiller Romanof, Leigh Sand, and Timothy Nottingham; and many great-nieces nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, at Northshore Fellowship Church, 118 Woodland Avenue, Chattanooga, Tn. 37405 with Rev. Gary Moore, Rev. Jason Hood, and Rev. Jon Lowery officiating.

There will be a reception following the memorial service.

Pallbearers include Elijah Thomas, Seth Thomas, Michael Smith Jr., Grady Mullins, Tate Mullins, Levi Mullins and Corey Mullins.
