Three rounds down, one to go at the 72nd annual NAIA Men's Golf National Championship with #1 Dalton State one-stroke back after moving day at Dalton Golf and Country Club on Thursday.
The lead for #4 Texas Wesleyan shrank after a 12-over 300 round. #1 Dalton State (Ga.) remained 2nd posting 9-over 297 to close the gap to one-stroke. #11 Columbia (Mo.) shot the best round of the day, a 1-over 287 and is 3rd, with #2 Keiser (Fla.) (+11, 299) in 4th. #6 British Columbia (+37, 901) rounds out the top 5.
Jarod Edwards continues to have a strong tournament, carding a 1-over 73 to lead the Birds and sits tied for 14th overall. Jack Whaley is also having an outstanding national championship, remaining in the top 5 tied for 3rd after a 2-over 74.
Steve Kibarebounced back on Thursday with a 3-over 75, matched by Brock Hoover. They are tied for 43rd and 23rd respectively. Trevor Bassett birdied No. 18 on the way back in to post 7-over 79 as the 5th score.
It will be early day Friday as tee times have been moved up with weather expected in the area in the afternoon. The #1 Birds are slated to tee off hole No. 1 beginning at 8:40 a.m.
