Ronald Wayne Pierce, 82, of Chickamauga, Georgia, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, May 23, 2024.

He was born on April 6, 1942 in Chickamauga, to the late Eugene and Lottie Pierce. He graduated from Mt. Berry School for Boys in 1960. Ron served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, then went to work for Combustion Engineering for seven years. Ron attended Chattanooga State and earned his bachelor’s degree from Berry College and earned his master’s degree from the University of Georgia. He taught metal working at Rossville High School and then was vocational supervisor and vice principal at Rossville High School and helped open Ridgeland High School serving as vocational supervisor and vice principal until he retired in 2000. He was a banjo playing enthusiast, enjoyed woodworking, gardening and camping in his RV with his wife.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lottie Jean Sharrock and brother-in-law, George Ernest Perkins, Sr.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Margie Pierce; brothers, Larry Pierce (Mary Ann) and Fred Pierce (Donna); sister-in-laws, Linda Perkins and Danette Mullinax; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and life-long friend, Russell Parks (Teresa).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Denny Patrick officiating. Interment will follow at Peavine Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. on Monday, May 27, at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.
