John "Jack" Warren McEwen, 25, of Lookout Mountain, passed away April 30, 2024, at his apartment in Nashville.

He is survived by his parents Warren and Bronwyn McEwen, sister Mary Catherine McEwen, sister Bronwyn Hollis (Logan), brother Will McEwen, niece Eva McEwen, nephew Asher Hollis, and nephew Crew Hollis.

An avid sports lover from birth, his first word was “ball”. Early in the mornings, at three or four years old, he’d be watching ESPN instead of cartoons. And once he started talking, he didn’t stop! Even as a child, Jack assumed people of all ages wanted to be his friend. Sitting next to strangers on the bleachers at basketball games, he’d start talking to the man or woman next to him about the players or the plays. Jack loved any sport involving a ball and spent many years playing many different sports. Jack had a way of putting people at ease, never ceasing to bring laughter and smiles to everyone around him. There was an exuberance about him. But there was so much more to him than laughter, entertaining us, and a love of sports. He had the most caring and tender heart. He was empathetic and was such a good listener. Family was important to him. He enjoyed golfing and running 5-Ks with his dad and his brother, Will. Jack could talk endlessly with his mom. He loved playing cards and was very competitive in most things. He loved his siblings and just came home from Nashville a week ago to celebrate his two-year-old nephew’s birthday. He showed up for those he loved.

Jack was a life-long resident of Lookout Mountain, until moving to Nashville after college graduation. Jack accepted Jesus as his Savior as a child. He was a member of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church.

Jack graduated from The McCallie School in 2017. He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2022 with a degree in Business Finance and Investments. Jack was employed at UBS Financial Services in Nashville.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6, in the sanctuary at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church with Pastor Brian Salter officiating. Preceding the service will be visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church.

Memorial gifts can be sent to The Len Teague Mark 6:31 Fund. Len Teague was Jack’s small group leader and was greatly used by God in Jack’s life. This fund enables youth from Lookout Mountain Presbyterian and Rock Creek Fellowship to encounter Jesus Christ at youth retreats and special events. Gifts to the Len Teague Mark 6:31 Fund can be made via check to LMPC, 316 N Bragg Ave, Lookout Mountain, TN 37350 or online at lmpc.org/give. Indicate “The Len Teague Mark 6:31 Fund”.
