Skylar Ife Ruth Wallace, the namesake to both her loving grandmothers and a beacon of joy, passed away on May 28, 2024, at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta in Atlanta, at the tender age of 21 months.

Born on Aug. 15, 2022, to the proud parents of Davis Mervin Wallace, Jr. and Shenise NaShawn Katheryne Wallace, Skylar, affectionately known as Sky Sky or Sky Mama, was a constant source of laughter and happiness. Her infectious joy touched the hearts of all who knew her. She loved music, visiting the zoo and the Children's Museum, and traveling with her family. She ate strawberries by the bushel and adored Cuban food (thanks, Hilda!). Skylar was a very silly girl and a force to be reckoned with, always bringing a smile to our faces.

Skylar's first year of life was filled with love and laughter, spent with her dad, Davis, during the day. They enjoyed playing, reading, and dancing, their favorite song being 'Who's That Girl' by Eve. Davis created a mini sneakerhead by keeping her in all the fashionable footwear. She was a true daddy's girl, their bond unbreakable. When she wasn't playing sidekick to her dad, she was her brother's shadow. They shared a special bond, enjoying their time together, playing and exploring the outdoors.

If you did not have the pleasure of knowing Skylar, you simply need to take a look at her mom, Shenise. Skylar inherited her feisty personality and love of great food from Shenise. Shenise enjoyed mother-daughter time with Skylar as she lovingly did her hair each day. Skylar loved getting tummy and neck kisses from her mom; this gesture always sent Skylar into a barrel of laughter.

Skylar's love extended beyond her immediate family. She had a special bond with her Gigi and Nana, whom she frequently called on FaceTime as she explored her surroundings. She also enjoyed sleepovers with her cousins at her aunt Brittney's house, creating cherished memories.
Skylar's favorite words were aqua, apple, Sasha, and bro (a word she only ever secretly shared with her brother Davy). Skylar's beloved caretaker, Hilda, or Titi, known by Skylar, was teaching her to speak and understand Spanish.

What a privilege it is to be her parents. We enjoyed every second of our time together. We will miss you tremendously, and we will love you forever.

Skylar's light touched the lives of many. She leaves behind her father and mother, Davis Wallace Jr. and Shenise Wallace; brother, Davis Wallace III; grandparents, Davis Wallace Sr. and Ruth Wallace and Erroll Rosser Sr. and Ife Rosser; aunt, Brittney Paige; cousins Ayden and Aria Green; uncle, Derek Wallace; cousins Massillan and Maleah Wallace; uncles Erroll Rosser Jr. and Ellis Rosser; great grandparents, Earling and Dorothy Rosser and Curtis and Paula Eakins; great-great-grandmother, Delores Johnson; a host of great aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support we have received during this difficult time. Your kind words and gestures have brought us comfort and strength.

Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 423 622-9995.

A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 14, at Orchard Park SDA, at 951 N. Orchard Knob Ave., 37406. Final viewing Friday, June 14, at 10:30 a.m.
