Fred Wheaton, 87, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

Fred was born in Maitland, Fl., on July 2, 1936, the son of the late Orville Wheaton and Annice Hawkins Wheaton. He proudly served in the United States Navy. Fred retired from Lockheed Martin as an engineer after 39 years of service. He helped build the Iron Dome in Israel. Fred enjoyed desserts and yard work.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by seven siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Marti Wheaton of 48 years; sons, Michael Wheaton (Donna), Freddie Wheaton (Caroline), and David Wheaton; daughter, Kim Silvers (Lee); step-son, Kristopher Thomas Lockard (Heather); and three step-daughters, Tammy Lynn Buzzan (Calvin), Lisa Martinez, and Kim Carboni (Jeff); 28 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara VanCamp. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life will be held later.
