JP Bowman
JP Bowman, Jr. was born on February 6, 1976, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He entered into eternal rest on Wednesday June 5, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee.
He was educated in the Chattanooga Public School system and graduated from Howard High School, class of 1994.
JP was baptized and joyfully joined the St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church as a member.
On Jan. 3, 2018, he was given the name "Papa" with the birth of his first grandson, Shakir.
JP was so elated to become a grandfather. This small bundle of joy brought him so much pleasure.
He was preceded in death by his parents, JP Bowman, Sr. and Cynthia A. Caffey; two aunts, Lavertta Ashley and Shirley Bowman; five uncles, Emmitt Jr. and George Ashley; Gordon Bowman, James Bowman, and Joe Bowman, Jr.; grandparents, Joe and Mamie Bowman, Emmitt and Mary Ashley: two great-grandparents, Patti Howard and Maybell Ashley.
Those left to cherish his memories are his two sons, Darrius Bowman and Notorious Goodlow; his big brother, Anthony (Lenita) Caffey; three sisters, Lisa Bowman, Cassandra Bowman, and Charlotte Bowman; his grandson, Shakir Bowman; uncles, James Ashley, Melvin Bowman, Calvin Bowman, Lee Bowman, and Daniel Bowman; aunts, Essie Cosper, Mary Woods, Rutha Smith, Brenda Garth, and Jackie Bowman, Angela Bowman, Kathy Bowman of Alpine Alabama; great-aunt, Margaret Ashley.
Although he had many childhood friends his main man was Dewayne (Scooter) Ervin along with Tony Morris and Walt; several nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, Nicole Fields and Tamika Lopez both residing in Nashville, Tennessee, and many other dear friends.
Public viewing will be held from 2–6 p.m. on Friday, June 21, at the funeral home.
An 11 a.m. funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 22, at St. Paul AME Church, 2514 Williams Street.
Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.
