Thelma Virginia Lewis Skiles Potter, 88, of Soddy Daisy, passed away peacefully at her home on July 16, 2024.

Thelma was a member of Red Bank Presbyterian Church, but had been regularly attending Rechoboth Baptist Church in Soddy Daisy, in the last few years. Thelma was a graduate of Soddy Daisy High School.

Thelma was retired from Combustion Engineering and was always known for her contagious smile and personable interaction with those who worked closely with her.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Chester Lewis and Mary Lewis Baumgartner; husband, Paul Potter; four siblings: Jayna Lewis Gravitt; Willard, Granville, and Lowell Lewis.

Survivors include her four children, Rick (Sherry) Skiles; Rhonda (Don) Thurman; Ginger Potter Reed; and Tim (Rebecca) Potter; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as two siblings, Bernice Lewis McClendon, and Larry Lewis.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 19, in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Eric Duble, Alan Stewart, and Jerry Yother officiating. Interment will follow in Varner Cemetery on Mowbray Mountain.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 18.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Varner Cemetery c/o Lamar Carr, 10503 Grant Road, Soddy Daisy, Tn. 37379 or Young At Heart at Soddy Daisy Senior Center, 190 Depot Street, Soddy Daisy, Tn. 37379.

The family would like to thank all those she met during her life who loved and cherished her as much as the family did, especially those at The Senior Center of Soddy Daisy. She never met a stranger, and her fun and laughing personality was one to be cherished. Her beautiful soul was one of patience, understanding, non-judging, peace, and Godly love, and it resonated through her beautiful blue eyes.

The family would also like to thank her special friend, Mickey Myers, who brought much joy and adventure into her life when she needed it the most.
