The Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy and Montessori Elementary Highland Park will welcome students back for the first day of school on Thursday.
"As the new academic year begins, the school community is buzzing with anticipation and enthusiasm for what promises to be an incredible year of learning, growth and achievement," officials said.
Dr. Elaine Swafford, CEO of CGLA & MEHP, expressed her excitement for the upcoming school year, saying, "We are absolutely thrilled to welcome our students back.
This year, we are building on last year's successes and are committed to reaching new heights. Our students and faculty are ready to embark on this year’s journey filled with new goals and exciting endeavors."
Last year (2023-2024), CGLA’s choir made a debut at Carnegie Hall, showcasing the students' talent and dedication. Additionally, the Tennessee Department of Education and the Tennessee STEM Innovation Network honored CGLA with the STEM/STEAM School Designation, recognizing the school’s commitment to innovative STEM/STEAM education. MEHP also achieved some milestones, including its 100th day of school and an event honoring Dr. Sue Anne Wells with a building dedication ceremony.
Officials said, "Building on these successes, both CGLA and MEHP aim to further enhance their educational programs, support services and extracurricular activities this year, setting ambitious goals to continue their trajectory of success. In addition to academic advancements, CGLA and MEHP are planning exciting events and programs to engage students and the broader community. From leadership workshops and STEM projects to arts and cultural activities, there is something for everyone to look forward to."
"We are committed to creating an environment where our students can thrive and reach their full potential," Dr. Swafford added. "With the dedication of our exceptional faculty and the support of our community, I have no doubt that this year will be even better than last year."
As the new school year begins, CGLA and MEHP invite students, parents and community members to join in the excitement and support the school’s mission to empower students through education and leadership. CGLA and MEHP officials said have many exciting announcements coming up this year, and they encourage the community to stay tuned so they don't miss out.
