Carolyn Sarratt Tankersley
Carolyn Sarratt Tankersley, 84 of Rossville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
Carolyn was born March 4, 1940, to the late Daniel and Jessie Sarratt. She grew up in Ider, Al., and graduated from Ider High School. Following graduation she moved to Chattanooga with relatives. Carolyn was an active member of People’s Baptist Church, she loved the Lord, was strong in her faith, a faithful prayer warrior and enjoyed Southern Gospel Music. She retried from Sun Trust Bank with over 40 years of service in the Legal Department. After her retirement Carolyn enjoyed visiting Centre, Alabama spending time at the Weiss Lake property with her husband, friends and family. She treasured her time that was spent with family. Carolyn enjoyed cooking homemade meals and will be remembered for her Pecan Pies, Homemade Candies at Christmas and her delicious Potato Salad. She and her dog Dolly who she adored recently moved to Happy Valley Morning Pointe Assisted Living and they enjoyed their new home and friendships. Carolyn was an inspiration to so many and known at Morning Pointe as “Dolly’s Mom.”
She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Tommy Tankersley; parents Daniel and Jessie Sarratt; sister, Shelby Harris and nephew Chuck Sarratt.
Left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Melanie (Steve) Wyatt; brother, Charles (Nina) Sarratt; sister, Pat (John) Godfrey; grandchildren, Madison, Randi, Nolan, Savannah, Connor; great grandson, Kallan; nieces and nephews, Susan, Teddy, Kerry, Ben, Hannah, Josh, Megan, Blake, Lauren, Sarah and Swayer.
The family would like to thank the staff at Happy Valley Morning Pointe, Tapestry Hospice and her dear friends Fran and Carla for their caring love, compassion and friendship.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 5, at 12:30 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Steve Kellogg officiating. Those serving as pallbearers, Kevin Godfrey, Kerry Godfrey, Teddy Harris, Ben Harris, Steve Wyatt and Ian Franklin.

Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4–8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
