NIOTA, Tenn. — Bradley Central notched its first District 5-AA sweep of the young golf season, downing Walker Valley and host McMinn County, at Springbrook Golf Club, in Niota Monday.
The Bears edged cross-county rival Walker Valley 162-163, while the Cherokees carded a 182.
While McMinn does not have a girls' team this season, the Bearettes held off the Lady Mustangs 83-86.
In the hard fought boys match, Bradley senior Jaxon Chapman claimed low-medalist honors with a 1-over-par 37.
Bear junior Andrew Suttles helped out with a 6-over 42, while senior newcomer Ethan Johansen and junior Andrew Walker were right behind with 42s.
Walker Valley sophomore Harrison Yost topped the Herd tally with a 3-over 39, for the day's second lowest score.
Classmate Colton Widener and senior Alex Robinson posted 5-over 41s to the Mustang total, while senior Eli Bain and sophomore Malachi Maples carded 42s to round out the tally.
Bradley junior Addie Geren led the way with her 3-over 39 in the girls' action, while classmate Colby Ann Turner, a 2023 TSSAA State qualifier, and senior Gracie Sermons both carded 44s for the victory.
Three-time TSSAA state qualifier Ainsley Oliver had the second low score among the females with a 5-over 41, while fellow senior Charlee Snyder shot a 45 to round out the Lady Mustang tally.
