Wilmadean “Wilma” Elizabeth Prescott passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024.

She was born on Oct. 25, 1942, in Rock Spring, Ga. to parents, John Robert and Ruby Belle Wilson Hamilton.

Wilma worked at Brock Candy Company, Cutter’s Laboratories and was a bus monitor for Catoosa County Schools. She was a faithful member of Catoosa Baptist Tabernacle for most of her adult life. She was also a member of The Red Hat Society.

Wilma loved the Lord and served Him by always being a light to others. She wore many hats – wife, mom, daughter, sister, mamaw, aunt, friend- playing a vital role in many lives. She loved her family and her house was always open to anyone who wanted to stop by and chat or needed refuge during hard times. At Mamaw’s house you were never lonely and definitely never hungry! She loved being outside and was known for her beautiful flowers. She loved her grandchildren to no end and many memories were made at Mamaw’s house.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Robert Hamilton and Ruby Belle Wilson Hamilton; sister, Lucille Ridley; and a brother, James Hamilton.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 60 plus years, Jackie Ray Prescott; her son, Nickie Ray Prescott, daughter, Kim Wilmadean “Wilma” Elizabeth Prescott passed away Monday, September Prescott (Allen) Dean; five grandchildren, Loren (Dustin) Fryar, Warren (Amber) Dean, Kayla Prescott, Lexi (Logan) Sneed, and Christian Prescott; 4 great grandchildren, Emma Fryar, Cole Fryar, Carter Dean and Grayson Prescott; siblings, Christine Clark, Robert Hamiton, Catherine Goodman, and Alyene Magill.

A chapel service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 4-8 p.m.

All arrangements have been made by Lane Funeral Home and Crematory South Crest Chapel in Rossville.
