Luther Edward “Ed” Shook was born in Booneville, Ms., on May 21, 1934, to the late Daniel Luther Shook and Minnie Pearl Barnes Shook.

He was 90 years old and the youngest of eight sibling, who all have preceded him in death.

He began in the ministry in 1957 at the age of 23 until his death in 2024 67 years. He was an ordained minister for the Church of God, Cleveland, Tn. He pastored five churches in Mississippi, two in Indiana, three in Texas and one in Wisconsin. He evangelized for both the states of Mississippi and Tennessee in the 1960s. He also evangelized all over the United States and in Canada through the years. Preaching the gospel was his lifelong passion and it is easy to see and know his love for Christ- it flowed out of him to everyone he met, every stranger, every acquaintance and lifelong friend and loved ones. He exemplified Christ in word and deeds.

He was married to Rachel Ann Henderson Shook, also from Booneville, Ms., for 39 years and the raised and loved two children, Rebecca Lynn Shook Shaw (Jim) and Donald Edward Shook (Kelly) He was married to Esther Carter Shook for 31 years.

He is survived by his children, Rebecca and Don, three granddaughters, April Michelle Shook Cain, Rebecca Kate Shaw - Nappi (Frank), and Joanna Grace Shaw, and four great grandchildren, Mason Burke, Abby Burke, TJ Burke, and Lucciana Nappi. He loved his family.

He will be DEEPLY missed by his family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, and from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8, at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel.

Interment will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
