The Cleveland State volleyball team finished one set away from their first victory of the season, falling 3-2 to Reinhardt University's JV squad.
"I'm really encouraged by the continual improvement we show each night," head coach Peyton McDaniel said. "Our priority now is just piecing together the set wins for a full match."
The Cougars lost the first set by two, won the second by two, lost the third by four, but won the fourth by four with Reinhardt ultimately outlasting Cleveland State 15-6 in the fifth set to take the match.
"Unfortunately, we did feel like we let the game slip through our hands, but it has just made the girls hungrier for our first win," McDaniel said.
"We are excited to get another opportunity at home next week."
Next up for the Cougars is their first conference match of the season. Cleveland State is hosting Pellissippi State on Tuesday, September 10 with game time slated for 6:30 p.m.
