CLEVELAND,  Tenn. — With both teams owning 26 TSSAA State Championships, the nationally-ranked and No. 1 in Tennessee Cleveland matmen had little trouble once again knocking off archrival Bradley Central, ranked fourth in both state Class AA polls this week, in Thursday's crosstown battle.

The seven-time defending double state champions fell behind early, but overcame one of their state-ranked wrestlers getting upset to put the meet away with eight straight wins on their way to a 59-11 thrashing.

Bradley started the mat action with back-to-back wins, with 190-pounder Isaac Akins posting an 8-1 decision in the opener.

Bear junior Caiden Williams wasn't intimidated in the 215-pound match going against Gabe Moore, who finished third at the state last February.

Despite scoreless first and third periods, Williams exploded on a 10-1 second frame to claim the major decision over Moore, who had slipped from first to third in the latest Pin-TN state poll.

Defending state champion and nationally-ranked Tyson Russell got the home crowd going with the first Raider victory with a 75-second pin of Bear back up heavyweight Dewantae McMillon, who has been filling while for Aadyn Hubbard has been out of the lineup due to illness.

In rematch of the Bradley Invitational 106-pound title tilt, second-ranked Raider freshman Ace Chittum defeated fourth-ranked "Q" Dyer once again, this time with a 21-5 technical fall at the 4:59 mark.

Kicking off a string of five straight Cleveland "sticks," Dominic Cordero got the referee to blow the whistle at the 2:34 mark at 113.

Defending state 106-pound champ Jose Cordero, who is currently the top-ranked 113-pounder, stepped up to 120 Thursday and responded with a 3:05 mat slap.

At 126, Colt Maughon needed just 76 ticks for his "stick," while defending state runner-up and current No.
1-ranked Zac Bosken also put up a half dozen Raider pin points with an early stop of the 132 match, at the 1:47 mark.

Kellen Sanders gave the host their fifth straight pin, with second-period stop at the 2:48 mark of the 144-pound tangle.

In the closest match of the evening, Cleveland's Kaden Rice got an opening period takedown for the only points of his 144-pound battle with Brandon Harris.

Bradley picked up its third victory over the night at 150 when sixth-ranked Kyle Hogg jumped out to a quick 7-0 start on fourth-ranked Blake Congdon, but then had to hold of for an 8-4 decision for the upset.

Cleveland capped the win by winning the final three matches with its seventh "stick," plus back-to-back tech falls.

Aiden Boyd, who was ranked earlier in the season, got the ref to slap the mat 90 seconds into the 157 match.

Joshua Pulley went 3:43 into the 165 match before closing out an 18-2 technical fall, while defending state champion and nationally-ranked Cy Fowler followed with a 19-4 tech fall just before the final buzzer.
