Free Tai Chi Fitness Classes For Seniors Start In February

Join the University of Tennessee Extension for free beginner Tai Chi for Fall Prevention and Arthritis classes at four locations.

This fun eight-session program builds strength, balance and coordination, and is suitable for all fitness levels, officials said.

Participants are expected to attend all eight sessions.

February classes will meet at the new Harrison Community Center (former Harrison Elementary School) on Highway 58, and Shepherd Community Center just off Highway 58 near the airport on Feb.
4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27. Harrison classes are held from 10:30-11:30 a.m., and Shepherd from 1-2 p.m.

Class size is limited. Registration is required here. Registration is also available by calling UT Extension Monday-Friday at 423-209-8560 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Officials said, "Exercises are comparable to moderate walking. Check with your health care provider for any medical concerns. Wear sturdy shoes (such as tennis shoes) and comfortable clothing.
