U.S. Army And Navy Veteran Dedicated His Life To Ministry

Reverend Charlie Eugene Bagley, 95, of Rocky Face, Georgia, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of Monday, January 13, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving wife and devoted family.

Charlie was born on June 2, 1929, in Murray County, Ga., the beloved son of the late Charlie Virgil L. and Alice Elizabeth Dugger Bagley.

He was preceded in death by his cherished daughter, Wanda Sue Bagley; brothers, William Mitchell “Bill” Bagley, C.L. Bagley, Harlan Bagley, and Grady Bagley; sisters, Katie Stanley, Minnie Kurtner, Sally Chance, and Beatrice Peeler; as well as his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Bonnie Goforth.

Charlie honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and Navy Reserve during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, he dedicated his life to ministry and earned a degree in Theology from Tennessee Temple in 1961. Reverend Bagley pastored several area churches, including Fairview Baptist, Fellowship Baptist, and Maddox Chapel, and was a current member of Westside Baptist Church in Rocky Face, Georgia. His steadfast devotion to the Lord made him a beacon of faith, compassion, and love to all who knew him.

Charlie retired from Gregory Printing after a fulfilling career but continued to shepherd others with his wise counsel and spiritual guidance. His life was a testament to his love for God, his family, and his community. His unwavering faith and commitment to spreading the Gospel touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of grace, kindness, and Christian devotion.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 74 years, Arminda Goforth Bagley of the residence; daughters and son-in-law, Veronica Hall, Brenda and Michael Starks, all of Rocky Face, GA; grandchildren, Crystal and Brandon Guinn, Kevin Starks, Christy and Jason Turner, Nathan and Lorrie Robertson, and Anthony and Soledad Starks; great-grandchildren, Alec Heuser, Brandon and Tracey Heuser, Logan Robertson, Hunter and Adriana Robertson, Tiffany Robertson, and Charleigh Marie Guinn; several great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Reverend Charlie Bagley’s life and legacy will be held Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel, with Reverend Rick Edwards and Reverend Paul Armstrong officiating. Entombment will follow in the Celebration Mausoleum at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #112.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Anthony Starks, Kevin Starks, Nathan Robertson, Hunter Robertson, Logan Robertson, Alec Heuser, and Brandon Heuser.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel on Wednesday, Jan. 15, from 5-9 p.m., and again on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the service hour.
