Eugene Alfred Prawd, 92, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025.

Gene was born in New York, NY on Nov. 28,1932. He graduated from Jamaica High School and attended college. After working for Combustion Engineering, Gene accepted a transfer to Chattanooga, where he met his wife, Jean Davis Prawd. He retired from General Electric Supply after 30 years of service. Gene was an avid sports fan and loved the New York Yankees from childhood. He enjoyed playing golf and shared that passion with his family. Gene was a member of First-Centenary United Methodist Church in Chattanooga and served as an usher 20 years before moving to Knoxville and joining Cedar Springs Presbyterian where he and his wife were active in the Covenant Class. He was passionate about helping others and loved the outdoors.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Alice Prawd; twin brother, Donald and sister, Alice.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jean Prawd, of Knoxville; son, David Prawd (Stephanie) of Trenton, Ga.; daughter, Karen Witcher (Kerry), of Knoxville, and grandchildren, Jordan Gregory (Morgan), Davis Gregory, Katherine Witcher (Cody), Katie Couenhoven (Joel), and Tyler Ford (Lyndsay).

A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
