Nella Dean “Boone” Taylor Yother
In the early hours of January 15, our family witnessed a miraculous transition. Our precious Mama exhaled her final breath of this earthly journey and inhaled life everlasting in her heavenly home. As we said good-bye for now, Mama said hello to her New Beginning.
Nella Dean “Boone” Taylor Yother, 93, was born on Oct. 30, 1931, to William A. and Nena F. Taylor. Boone was born and raised in her beloved Soddy Daisy and was a member of the Class of 1949 at Soddy Daisy High School. She met her Mowbray Mountain Prince Charming, Arthur M. Yother (93) in 1948. On Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2024, Boone and Arthur celebrated 75 years of happily ever after.
To all who knew her, Boone was the social butterfly. She loved everyone and treated them with her loving smile and a patented wink. That smile and wink never went away, even in her toughest moments until the end. Boone was also Miss UTK: GO VOLS, How about those VOLS, and Touchdown Tennessee frequented her lips. Rocky Top was her Home Sweet Home.
Boone loved her Heavenly Father, his Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. She loved to use her calling of singing to uplift his name from her whole heart. Boone was true to her faith, a dedicated member of the New Vision Worship Center for 28 years. She was also a core member of the Dividing Ridge Church of God that her family grew from the ground up.
Boone is preceded in death by her parents William A. and Nena Freeman Taylor, sister Wilma Taylor Redden (husband Elmer Redden), and many other uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Boone is survived by her husband Arthur M. Yother: three sons, Larry (Donna), Ronnie (Sandy), Jerry (Tammy); seven grandchildren- Josh, Abbie, Mandy, Chad, Jennifer, Taylor, Miranda; 18 great grandchildren; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Nella’s (Boone’s) life will begin with visitation Friday, Jan. 17, from 4-8 p.m. and service on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 11:30 a.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home – North Chapel, 5401 TN-153, with Dr. Josh Yother and Bishop Tony McAfee of Clinton, Tn. officiating.
