Elizabeth "Betty" Mae Hinkle Lindauere, 94, of Ringgold, Georgia, after a short illness, drew her last breath on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, and saw her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ face to face.

She was born on September 23, 1930 in McKeesport, Pa., where she earned her degree in music at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa., and met the love of her life, Gene (Bud).

She was the second of six children born to the late Jonathan Holmes and Mary Irma Poland Hinkle. Her late husband, Gene Woods Lindauere preceded her in death on September 3, 2024. They had been married for 72 years.

She is survived by sisters, Lee Watson (Fairview, NY) and Faye Breda (Toronto, Canada), as well as her five children, Dee (Russ) Grier (Rossville, GA), Randy (Sue) Lindauere (Myrtle Beach, SC), Denise (Brian) Jansen (Bluffton, SC), Dayna (Ed) Buswell (Denton, MD), Debbi (Mark) Hottel (Mt. Airy, MD); her 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, many beloved nieces and nephews, including Cynthia Jo Nemeth (Carmel, IN) who was like a daughter from the age of 12.

Elizabeth and her husband were extremely hospitable, having missionaries stay in their home and hosting many dinners and social events.

Betty played the piano and organ for nearly 80 years in many churches. She taught hundreds of children and adults how to play and love the piano. She taught English and music primarily at her church school for many years. She and her husband moved from Rockville, Md to Ringgold, Ga in 1991 and were guiding hands in the founding of the L’Abri Symphony Orchestra in Dalton, Ga, which is still in existence after 30+ years.

Truly her love for her Savior, family and music were the touchstones of her life.

Betty was a breast cancer survivor. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in her honor to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 28 W. 44th St., Ste 609, New York, NY 10036. Or, www.bcrf.org

The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, with a Celebration of Life service at 11:45 a.m., at Wilson Funeral Home, 555 West Cloud Springs Road, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. 30742.

Interment will be at National Cemetery at 2 p.m.

Arrangements are made by Wilson Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.
