A free plant-based dinner and community viewing of the film, “PlantWise” will kick off the 2025 season of monthly Dinner with a Doctor meetings on Monday, January 20 at 6 p.m. at the South Bay Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4605 Redland Dr, Chattanooga, 37416.
The film follows the stories of six people, each struggling with debilitating health conditions. They learn that the standard American diet — high in fat, sugar and salt and low in fiber and nutrients — is the culprit behind many chronic illnesses.
With hope, they discover this epidemic of diseases — heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure — may be reversible. By embracing the benefits of a whole-food, plant-based diet, they’re able to improve or reverse their chronic conditions and find renewed energy and vitality. Weaving together personal stories and evidence-based science, PlantWise puts forward an inspiring message of hope.
Dr. George Guthrie, a board-certified family medicine physician and pioneer in the specialty of lifestyle medicine, was featured in the film and will be present to provide the backstory to the film.
The event is free and open to the public and no pre-registration is required. For more information, visit dwtdhixson.com or contact Dr. Eric Nelson at dwtdhixson@gmail.com or (423) 541-0622.
The event is sponsored by the South Bay Seventh-day Adventist Church to encourage community residents to live healthier lives through exercise, plenty of sunshine, spiritual growth, and a vegetarian, plant-based, whole foods diet.
