The Covenant softball team had a chance to get back at both Millsaps and MUW after they fell in a pair of close games to the two schools yesterday. It wasn't to be for the Scots as they struggled to keep up offensively, dropping both games.
Covenant 3, Millsaps 11 The Majors opened the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single to center field.Millsaps made it 2-0 in the second inning, scoring a run on a bases-loaded walk.
In the third inning, Millsaps scored three runs, highlighted by an RBI double and an RBI triple.
Ashlyn Gaines put Covenant on the board with an RBI double down the left-field line that scored Haley Russell in the fourth inning.
The next batter was Kathleen Carpenter who delivered a 2-RBI single, also down the left-field line, to make it 5-3. In the fifth inning, the Majors used seven hits to score six runs, capped off by a 3-RBI double, to put the run-rule in effect.
Covenant moves to 0-2 all-time against Millsaps. Gracie Lacle, Gaines, and Carpenter each had a hit for the Scots. Charley Clark (4 IP, 9 H, 9 ER, 4 BB, 1 K) made her first appearance in the circle for Covenant.
Covenant 1, MUW 8 Covenant scored its lone run of the game in the first inning as Olivia Stefl drove in Russell with an RBI single to left field. After the Scots held the Owls scoreless in the first two innings, MUW strung together six hits that led to three runs in the third inning.
A bases-loaded walk later followed by a 2-RBI double to right-center field for MUW in the fifth inning extended its lead to 7-1. The Owls added their final run of the game in the sixth inning with a two-out RBI single through the right side.
Covenant moves to 3-5 all-time against MUW. The Scots were outhit 13-2.
Lauren Edgar (3 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 1 K), Clark (1.1 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 1 K), and Madison Bowden (1.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 K) pitched for Covenant.
