Don King, a good and gentle soul, made his transition from this life on January 24, 2025.
All who interacted with Don were first graced by his impeccable manners and quiet unassuming nature. Next you could not help but be enthralled by the depth of intellect in everything he undertook. Always a consummate planner, exploring every aspect of a challenge before arriving at the correct resolution. You might not agree with him at first, but through his articulate and yes stubborn ways he would persist until you found the error of your ways and admit, well you’re right, Don. Whether it was planning a playground that functioned perfectly for all kids or laying in the foundation for the creation of the Oxford Community, Don led with his core values of humility, generosity, compassion, and selflessness.
In his personal life Don was unfailingly romantic, loving, and tender to those he loved and cherished. He was a lover of animals and read to a depth most could not fathom. You could not meet Don and not understand that this is a genuine person, someone who could be counted on, someone to be both loved and respected.
He is survived by his life partner and cherished wife, Brooke Bradley King.
This troubled planet was better because Don King walked among us. He will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life for Don will be from 4-7 p.m. on March 6, at the Common House, 1517 Mitchell Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37405 with valet parking provided.
