Elizabeth “Elaine” Ellen Black Cummings Klaus, 80, of Ringgold, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 17, 2025.

Elaine was born and raised in Ringgold, but was a world traveler most of her life alongside her husband, Robert Klaus, both of which are spiritual in the Baptist faith. Elaine was an avid fan of Elvis Presley and is a founding member of Elvis Presley Enterprises. Throughout her life, she loved to sing gospel music. She was a Sunday School teacher, choir member and play director of Pine Hill Baptist Church, Nelly Head Baptist Church and Parkway Baptist Church. In her free time, Elaine enjoyed dancing, time with family, and decorating everything around her; of which she always managed to make beautiful. The majority of her mornings were spent in silence with her Lord, in which she prayed out loud for everyone by name, sometimes for hours, making sure that no one was left out. Elaine retired from AMG International in Chattanooga after more than 15 years of service and had previously worked with Red Food Store and All State Insurance.

“And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” Luke 1:46-47

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Ernest F. Cummings; parents, Fred Lee Black and Delia Brown Black; sister, Betty Jane Black; brothers, George, William, and Roger Black; sister-in-law, Mary Evelyn Bell.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Robert Klaus; children, Sondra (David) Ragan; Tim (Stephanie) Cummings, Crystal Dawn (Trenton) Scott; sister, Mary “Cokie” Black Parson; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Jack) Dyer; brother-in-law, Roy (Evelyn) Cummings; grandchildren, Victoria (Garrett) Wendt, Gus (Presley) Wendt, Audrey Faith Miller, Samantha Michelle Teems (Jonathan) Smart; great grandchildren, Chance and Beckham High, Harley Lynn Smart, Audrey Elizabeth Smart, and Gunnar Michael Smart; life long friends, Cindy Sparks, Barbara Morton, Rose Marie Dawn, Gin Chasteen, Mike Way and Kim Lyell, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends from all over the world.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4-8 p.m., on Sunday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m., and on Monday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.

A “Going Home Celebration” is being held on Monday, Feb. 24, at 1:30 p.m. with Deacon Donald Swearengin and Pastor Tony Angel officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Gardens South.
