Samuel "Sammy" Anderson Dorsey
Samuel "Sammy" Anderson Dorsey, 90, of East Brainerd, passed away onWednesday, March 19, 2025, at his home.
A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Mr. Dorsey was retired from Dupont after 32 years of service and was a 1952 graduate of Central High school.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Sammy was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, bicycling, and kayaking.
He will be remembered for his love and devotion to many children as he taught many of them how to drive, how to cook with a fire, and gathered them all up for camping trips.
He never met a stranger and always saw the good in people. His charismatic and compassionate smile was a trait that many will remember him for. He had a true and genuine love for his family and his many friends.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Irma Dorsey; daughter, Lee Dorsey (Ed) Hope, Chattanooga; son, Mickey Dorsey, Ooltewah; two grandchildren, Emily (Daniel) Monnette, Evan (Abby) Dorsey; three great-grandchildren, Sam Monnette, Preslee Dorsey, and McKenzie Dorsey; many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 27, at 2:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
