The Chattanooga Mocs weekend came to an abrupt end Friday afternoon at the NCAA Championships in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center. The Mocs final two – Noah Castillo & Sergio Desiante – saw their run to the podium end.
Castillo drew Iowa State’s Cody Chittum in consolation round two at 157 after knocking 2024 national runner-up Jacori Teemer of Iowa Thursday night. Castillo could not breach Chittum’s defense as the Cyclone managed the lone takedown of the match in a 5-3 decision.
Desiante faced a rematch from his Southern Scuffle Championship match in Oklahoma’s Gaven Sax.
He dispatched the Sooner before heading to the third round of consolations and 8-seed Lenny Pinto from Nebraska. That one got away from him after falling behind and getting caught while chasing the result.
